Ray Carey

Ray is the Head of NextLevel Operations at Level Equity. His primary role is to lead theNextLevel Operations team and to accelerate portfolio company growth throughsupporting CEOs, strategic planning, and operational changes.

Ray came to Level from CivicPlus, a Level portfolio company, where he served as President, Compliance Solutions after CivicPlus acquired Optimere in 2022. Optimere focused on cloud-based social media archiving, risk management, and analytics, and Ray was its CEO. He previously served as CEO of Astute until its acquisition by Audax Partners in 2019, and as President of the Broadband division of NRTC after its acquisition of NeoNova, where was CEO. Prior to his operating roles, Ray spent a decade as a Partner at Azure Capital Partners, investing in early-stage companies. Ray started his career in the technology practices at Robertson Stephens and Credit Suisse, raising public and private capital and advising on mergers and acquisitions. He also serves on numerous boards of directors, including Kelly’s Roast Beef, a multi-generational family business. Ray holds a degree from Stanford University.

A graduate of Stanford University, Ray was an NCAA champion butter-flyer and represented the USA in the 1996 Olympic Games. He splits his time between New York City and Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife, Beth, and their two children, Edward and Kathryn.
